Wouter Kusters obtained a PhD in linguistics in 1996, and did an MA on the philosophy of psychosis. In the Netherlands he is known for his books on the experience of psychosis and its relation to philosophy. For his Pure Madness (2004), and A Philosophy of Madness (2014), he won the Dutch Socrates Award for the best philosophy book of the year in Dutch.
