Pete Sanders retired in 2005 after over 30 years as a counsellor, trainer and clinical supervisor. Age 17 he got a summer job as a nursing assistant in a colony mental hospital in Birmingham. He learned more from the people he met there than from any qualification since. He is a trustee of Soteria Network UK and Open Door Counselling, Birmingham.
