About this event
AD4E is delighted to be hosting Viv Gordon’s CUTTING OUT, a play which is also an act of rebellion and resistance.
Viv cuts out chains of paper dolls.
Look, they are children holding hands.
When she is finished there will be 11 million of them.
She wants you to see them.
To see how delicate they are.
Each doll personifies a hidden story of survival.
Each cut of the scissors,
a decisive expression of defiance.
Part performance, part installation, part collective act of resistance, ‘Cutting Out’ tells the story of Viv’s journey from abuse to activism in a co-created installation of paper dolls. Holding hands in solidarity, they bear witness to 11 million adult UK survivors of child sexual abuse.
Following ‘Cutting Out’s hugely successful tour in Autumn 2021, AD4E, supported by Onlinevents, is proud to host an online showing and a Q&A session with Viv Gordon and her team.
Artistic Director Viv Gordon has a strong track record as a theatre maker, arts/mental health campaigner and survivor-activist grounded in her lived experience of child sexual abuse. Viv is a long time ally of ‘A Disorder for Everyone’ and has contributed to many AD4E events.

Survivors of child sexual abuse are disproportionately labelled, drugged, pathologised by the mainstream mental health system. Please join us for this event in solidarity with Viv and survivors everywhere.
